In Heyden’s painting, “An Architectural Fantasy”, the theme appears to be Invention and Fantasy. It shows where Heyden has created (invented) a detailed architectural landscape that may not exist (fantasy).

In Avercamp’s painting, “A Scene on the Ice”, we are looking outward on life in an icy winter climate as a theme at the time (1625) the painting was created.

Dear Shallon,

I believe that the theme for Jan van der Heyden's "An Architectural Fantasy", is Invention and Fantasy and the theme for Hendrick Avercamp's "A Scene on the Ice", is Looking Outward: Here and Now.
